Park Info
The park...
Hitchin Dog Park is a beautiful 1.8 acre field set within acres of tranquil open countryside and fully enclosed with 1.6 metre (5ft) fencing along its perimeter as well as the natural surrounding hedgerows, bushes and trees.
Please be advised that even though the field is checked twice a day, we cannot control or guarantee that there will not be any damage caused by nature and wildlife. To put your minds at rest, we would advise that you do a brief walk around the field perimeter before you let your dog off its lead to make sure you are satisfied that there are no escape routes or other unexpected dangers.
Please also be aware of your dog or dogs capabilities as far as scaling/jumping fencing and only let them off their lead when you feel completely satisfied that they cannot escape.
Access...
We have an off-road parking area for 2 cars and a shelter within the field to give you a bit of extra cover should the heavens open during your session.
There is no lighting or water in the field. If required, please bring a drink for your dog and if necessary, please bring a torch should your session be on a winter’s morning/afternoon
We reduce the park's opening hours in winter months to account for the limited daylight.
We have a combination padlock (which has the number changed regularly) on the entrance gate which should always be locked when you arrive and must be locked when you leave.
Other users...
Please be respectful of the fact that some of the dogs using the park may have dog related issues, anxieties, fear of people or other behavioural problems so we would appreciate it if you stay in your cars until the previous people and dogs have left the field (and/or are safely in their cars).
All our sessions are 50 mins duration so as to allow for the changeover of the previous owners and dogs. Therefore, please be 100% sure that the previous people have left the field before you enter as some may not be in vehicles and may have arrived on foot.
